Powerplay alternative

A Powerplay alternative built for Indian SMBs

If Powerplay's per-user pricing is breaking your software budget, or you want payroll + accounts payable in the same workspace, here's what to know about switching.

14-day free trial · 3-week typical migration · Tally export preserved

Most Indian builders evaluating Powerplay run into the same three issues: per-user pricing scales fast at 20+ users, statutory payroll (EPF/ESI/PT) is a separate vendor, and GST e-Invoice has per-document overage fees. Rebaar solves all three with per-workspace pricing, bundled payroll, and bring-your-own-GSP credentials.

Why teams switch from Powerplay

Per-user pricing adds up faster than expected
Powerplay charges per active user. A 25-person team easily costs ₹1L+/month. Rebaar is ₹5,500–₹25,500 per workspace, regardless of user count — predictable through scaling.
GST e-Invoice has per-document fees
Powerplay's pooled-GSP model includes a quota and charges overage past it. For 1000+ invoices/month firms, these compound. Rebaar uses your own NIC/GSP credentials — no per-document upcharge from us.
Statutory payroll needs Greythr or similar
EPF, ESI, PT, TDS for site workers requires a separate integration in Powerplay. Rebaar bundles statutory payroll natively — site workers, salary slips, statutory deductions all in the same workspace.
Multi-role per user isn't supported
In construction, one person often wears 3 hats — your office manager runs HR + procurement + accounting. Rebaar lets one user have multiple roles with a unified dashboard. Powerplay forces you to pick one.

What to look for in a Powerplay alternative

  • Per-workspace pricing (so adding a junior engineer doesn't cost ₹4,000/month)
  • GST e-Invoice with bring-your-own credentials (no per-document fees)
  • Statutory payroll bundled (EPF cap at ₹15k PF wage, ESI at ₹21k gross, PT slabs, TDS 194C/J/I/Q)
  • Accounts payable with PO → GRN → bill 3-way match
  • Multi-role per user (your office manager has 3 hats)
  • Public REST API on every plan (so you can integrate with your bookkeeper's tool)
  • Export to Tally / Zoho Books / QuickBooks (your CA doesn't need to relearn)
  • Real product, not a slide deck — open the trial and see the actual UI

Migration playbook

Three weeks, end to end. Add a week per 25 users for permissions setup and training.
Step 1
Week 1 — Export your data from Powerplay
Powerplay supports CSV export for clients, projects, BOQ, vendors, employees. Get those files. For ongoing invoices, decide your cutover date — most pick the start of a financial quarter so opening balances are clean.
Step 2
Week 2 — Import + parallel run
Import the CSVs into a fresh Rebaar workspace. Set up users + roles. For two weeks, log new transactions in both systems. This catches mapping issues (vendor name mismatches, GST rate differences) before you commit.
Step 3
Week 3 — Switch over, archive Powerplay
New transactions go only into Rebaar. Keep Powerplay read-only for 6 months as historical archive. Most firms keep the Powerplay subscription on the cheapest tier for that window, then cancel.

Why teams pick Rebaar specifically

Per-workspace from ₹5,500/month (vs Powerplay's per-user pricing)
GST e-Invoice with your own credentials — no per-document fees
Statutory payroll (EPF/ESI/PT/TDS) bundled
Accounts payable with 3-way match
Multi-role per user
Public REST API on every plan

Pricing in plain terms: Rebaar Starter ₹5,500/workspace/month (up to 5 users); Growth ₹12,500/month (up to 20) adds AP + payroll + indents. Powerplay starts around ₹4,000/user/month based on public sources. For a 15-person team that's ₹1,50,000/year on Growth vs ₹7,20,000/year.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rebaar really a Powerplay alternative or just cheaper?
Feature parity for the SMB construction workflow — projects, BOQ, RA bills, GST, site management, materials, equipment. Rebaar adds statutory payroll and full accounts payable that Powerplay doesn't bundle. Powerplay is ahead on native mobile app polish and the on-site sales motion. If those matter to you, Powerplay still wins.
How long does migrating from Powerplay actually take?
Plan for 3 weeks: 1 week export + setup, 2 weeks parallel run. Larger firms (50+ users, multiple sites) push to 6 weeks because of permissions setup and training. The biggest delay is rarely the data — it's getting your team comfortable with a new UI.
Can I import my Powerplay BOQs?
Yes — Powerplay's CSV export of BOQ items maps directly to Rebaar's BOQ structure (section, item, unit, qty, rate, HSN). Manual review needed for non-standard rate components (labour/material breakdown), but the bulk of the work is one CSV upload per project.
What about my historical RA bills?
You don't need to migrate them. Keep Powerplay read-only for 6-12 months as historical archive. New RA bills issued after cutover go into Rebaar. At year-end, your CA references both for the full picture.
Does Rebaar have a mobile app for site workers?
PWA (works in Chrome on any phone, installs to home screen, supports push). Native app is on roadmap. If your site workers need true native + offline-first, this is the one area Powerplay is unambiguously ahead.
How do you support customers without a sales team?
Email + scheduled video calls + a public docs site. No on-site sales rep — you save the cost of that in the price. Solo-founder support is currently fast (response in hours) but it's a real constraint we disclose upfront.
What's the catch?
Three honest ones: (1) we're pre-launch, you'll be among the first customers — expect rough edges. (2) Single founder = bus factor risk; we hold an off-site backup of the codebase + escrow. (3) No native app yet. Those aside, the codebase is production-grade with 320 passing tests and a security audit.
Can I try Rebaar before migrating?
Yes. 14-day free trial. Create a workspace, import one project's worth of data, run it end-to-end. The trial period is enough to decide if the UI fits your team.
